The balcony will make an appearance once things settle a bit more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not everyone has heard of Bucaramanga, and the name doesn\u2019t exactly roll off the tongue. Not too small. It calls to mind Kansas City, Missouri\u2014still smack in the heart of flyover country. For a kid growing up in the wheat fields of Colby, watching contrails carve the blue sky and wondering where those planes were headed, the urge to be\u00a0<em>elsewhere<\/em>\u00a0came early.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Four trips to Colombia in under two years led to a decision: sell the house, let go of most belongings, and come back with no return ticket. The plan isn\u2019t just to retire but to stay\u2014if Migraci\u00f3n Colombia agrees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stories here are waiting to be told\u2014some personal, many woven from the lives already rooted in this place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier chapters unfolded at&nbsp;<em><a href=\"https:\/\/resistanceisfruitful.com\/\">resistance is fruitful<\/a><\/em>, a long-running blog on activism, survival, and meaning-making. This, however, is a fresh page: new continent, new rhythms, new questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Blogging\u2014Substacking\u2014kept getting postponed \u201cuntil after the move.\u201d With a lease signed and boxes half-unpacked, that excuse expires today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tourist labels no longer fit, yet \u201cexpat\u201d never felt right either. The visa reads&nbsp;<em>migrante<\/em>. The c\u00e9dula reads&nbsp;<em>extranjero<\/em>. Both accurate, neither complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Something deeper is unfolding\u2014a slow shift toward whatever belonging means in this valley of the Andes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Is becoming Colombian even possible?<br>One can always hope.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83c\udde8\ud83c\uddf4&nbsp;<strong>Espa\u00f1ol (Colombia)<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Despu\u00e9s de demasiados a\u00f1os, esta historia arranca en la mesa del comedor de un nuevo apartamento en Bucaramanga, Colombia. Cuando todo se acomode un poco m\u00e1s, el balc\u00f3n ser\u00e1 el escenario.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No todo el mundo ha o\u00eddo hablar de Bucaramanga, y el nombre no sale tan f\u00e1cil. La ciudad, en cambio, es una joya de tama\u00f1o medio enclavada en los Andes, al noreste de Bogot\u00e1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ni muy grande ni muy peque\u00f1a. Recuerda a Kansas City, Misuri\u2014todav\u00eda en pleno flyover country. Para un chico que creci\u00f3 entre trigales en Colby, mirando las estelas que cortaban el cielo azul y pregunt\u00e1ndose ad\u00f3nde ir\u00edan esos aviones, la necesidad de estar&nbsp;<em>en otra parte<\/em>&nbsp;lleg\u00f3 pronto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cuatro viajes a Colombia en menos de dos a\u00f1os desembocaron en una decisi\u00f3n: vender la casa, deshacerse de casi todo y regresar sin billete de vuelta. El plan no es solo jubilarse, sino quedarse\u2014si Migraci\u00f3n Colombia lo permite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aqu\u00ed esperan historias por contar\u2014algunas personales, muchas entretejidas con las vidas que ya echan ra\u00edces en este lugar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Los cap\u00edtulos anteriores se desarrollaron en&nbsp;<em><a href=\"https:\/\/resistanceisfruitful.com\/\">resistance is fruitful<\/a><\/em>, un blog de a\u00f1os sobre activismo, supervivencia y b\u00fasqueda de sentido.
